I think I have worked in customer service (read: servitude) for far too long, as I’ve become quite jaded with ‘customer service’. People are under the false assumption now (you know what it means to ASSume, don’t you?) that it’s always “instant gratification” time and it’s just never good enough. The only thing that sucks more is when you know what the policies are in your place of business (since they have drilled them into your head enough), but if a customer screams, yells, and throws enough of a temper tantrum, SOME manager will back down and give it to them! Yes, let’s just take it up the ass ONE more time in the name of “good customer service”. Geez…..haven’t people heard the word NO before?
Sorry guys, this is LIFE, not utopia! You take the good ALONG WITH THE BAD! If you can’t deal with the little bumps and bruises in life, then you should just crawl back under the rock you came out from under – or go back into your cave. I just can’t stand people who want it all their way, and want it right now ALL the freakin’ time. Makes me glad that my vacation is coming up soon. I can’t wait to get 1000 miles away from work and all the stress involved!
Perhaps I can just forget how to get back…..yeah….that’d do it. *reality hits SQ* Well….maybe not. Gotta move forward ya know.
I’ve had my share of sucky jobs in the past….most of which I have left after a short time. Those that are good ones, I tend to stick around as long as possible at. Have you ever had a job where you really liked it, only to turn sour on you – or have them move farther away than you would like to see? After seeing what my friend Murdock goes through working for a certain company in Denver, with them blocking his website from work (claiming to be a bad influence) and relocating web access to the lowest possible power computers in a small room (and not all of them even WORK), I know I would not be able to continue with such a sucky company. Then again, mine isn’t much better, although at least we still have web access there, and I’ve found I can pretty much define my own dress code as long as it looks good (which I’ve been getting a lot of practice at). It’s just funny that now I get strange looks when I show up in “normal” guy-wear! Life is good!
I have a 3-day weekend this weekend, but most of it will be busy. Today I went down to Rave’s for a while to help out there, and then doing the normal running around thing with the fam (ya gotta have that quality time, ya know!). I still need to think about putting up some shelves for my massively growing clothing collection (OK…most of it IS for shoes/boots), but I gotta get organized! How scary is that thought? A guy who used to work at the store I work at part-time tried to get me sucked into the middle of some adolescent “bitch session” over the weekend, but whether intentional or not, I avoided it deftly, as I have already made my loyalties clear. I just hate it when a friend of mine gets screwed over, and then the person who’s doing the screwing tries to get all buddy-buddy with me. I just can’t deal with that stuff right now. I have too much on my plate as it is.
Tomorrow is gonna be super-busy down at the store (PrideFest and RenFair this weekend), so I’m getting all psyched up for that (how demented is that thought, eh?). Ah well….I love what I do, and part of that is helping my friends, so hey…gotta love it, right? I’ve graduated to sprucing up my wardrobe and my appearance, which means co-ordinating my outfits, as well as doing some things that were considered “femme” until recent years, such as wearing heels and nails. I figure as long as it doesn’t interfere with my work life or my personal life, then it’s all good, right? Oh…I took the Voyager personality test, and found out that I am:
Which Voyager Character are YOU?
I think the people I work with are finally getting used to me and my style. Today I went in with my usual platforms, huge rings, earrings….and now nail polish, and not a word. I guess it’s true that as long as the quality of your work doesn’t suffer, then you’re pretty much good to go. Today was “dress your supervisor day” which was a lot of fun, thanks to Mistress Raven for helping out with the outfit that was used today. What else was cool was that we were able to put together an outfit that not only looked awesome, but also FIT! Talk about luck on that one! 🙂
This weekend is PrideFest, so I’m gearing up for that in hopes that it will be fun, fab, and all that good stuff. This weekend will most likely be busy at the store, so that will be great, as it will help things out there as well. Now to work on getting the rest of the photo gallery going. *sigh*….a webmaster’s work is never done. Ah well.
This weekend has been interesting for a lot of reasons, and also it’s seen its share of ups and downs. I got to meet my friend Chris Grevstad from Utah, along with his wife, who did a lot here in Denver, and introduced them to my good friend Raven. From what I have seen and heard about, he had a wonderful time, and Raven enjoyed meeting them as well. Now I’m really looking forward to October!
One of the guys at the store is no longer working there due to a lot of flub-ups that he did, a lot of sticking his foot in his mouth, and generally ungrateful for all the good fortune he was graced with for many moons – and now it’s come to an end. The sad thing is that he has no one to blame but himself. I guess it’s true what they say about karma…you do reap what you sow.
Technically it’s Friday, although I have not gone to sleep yet. I’ve been busy transferring my site to the new provider (again), and so I’m just now getting finished. Tomorrow (later today, really), I’ll be meeting my friend Chris Grevstad, who breezed into town on Wednesday and already found the fashion fun of Rave’s! According to reports from both Chris & Raven, a fun time was had by all, and more to come! Very cool! My special order came in, so I’m on my way to pick those up (photos to come!) after brunch. I have a new discussion board that is VERY cool, and so I’m looking forward to people coming in to make conversation all over the place! Z-time, so it’s off to pillow-land for me!
Today was yet another day in the technical salt mines, but it hit a rough patch when they were drafting us in the chat area to work on the phones. Now mind you, I worked for phone support for 2 years, and went to chat support to be able to stop listening to people yell at you for things that are out of your control (not that chat can’t drive you bonkers either). I managed to eek through it OK, and got out of it unscathed. I decided to go for a black & silver look tonight, which meant mostly black clothes, silver rings, earrings….and shiny silver pumps! Yeah, whatcha gonna do – besides, I think the people I work with are so used to me by now that nothing shocks them. Oh no…I’m losing my touch! What ever shall I do? Not that it matters because as strange as it may sound, I feel more at ease when I can present myself as I feel most comfortable doing. One month remaining until my big vacation, and then woo-hoooo! I’ll feel SO much better then!
