I used to not like living here before, and I’m pretty certain this is NOT where I wanted to end up BACK at. Yes, the job I have now pays well, and yes the rent is cheap, but is that all there is? If that’s it, then it’s time to leave again. I don’t have many friends here outside of those I met at work, and as wonderful as they are, I never see any of them outside of work. Maybe I’m too old (GAH!), not popular enough, too odd, whatever……It sucks to just get up, eat, go to work, come home, then sleep again. What happened to the rest???
Add to that, I see this article on the news this morning about this congresswoman who got tapped on the shoulder by a security guy, she thumps her cell phone at the officer, and now it’s FRONT PAGE NEWS??? I’m reminded by that scene from “From The Hip” where Judd Nelson says “He wants $50,000 and can’t even show you a BRUISE!” Give me a freakin’ break people! Get OVER it!
What’s weird is that I do enjoy what I do for the most part, yet people are leaving where I work in droves. Maybe it hasn’t fully sunk in as to WHY they’re leaving, but I’m just going by the adage of “duck under the radar and just keep on keeping on” – and so far it’s working pretty well. I figure as long as my job is stable, it’s enough to keep going for now. As soon as I see things start to destabilize again, then it’s back to Denver…….or somewhere else, once again. Maybe a trip to the UK next year will shed some light on what is missing. One can hope anyhow.
