Now that things have finally settled down financially, it’s time to get things going physically. At one time, I used to weigh 185, which is healthy for my tallness, minus heels hair and attitude (thanks RuPaul – you got that one stuck in my brain). I used to bike and swim a lot, so I think I’ll be starting that up again. Yes, there are places up here where even in the winter time, you can go swimming – it just costs a monthly fee *wink*. Walking is still free though, so I’ll be doing more of that as well. I think working a desk job softens you up too much, and in this day and age, it takes some effort to get more physical. I think it’s funny that in my last job, I drank soda constantly and ate pizza for lunch all the time, yet LOST weight. Let that be a lesson to those who say retail and fast food have no side-benefits. There is one, but it’s just less tangible, unless you pinch your gut to measure on a daily basis.
The pile-o-debt is dwindling down little by little, and soon hope to have just the necessary ones left. In some ways, I really wish I wouldn’t have gone to college for that one year, because that’s $7K of debt I could do without – really.
Oh..and for those who think I’m crazy to live here – last year we got less snow than Denver did. The only thing I can figure is that altitude and global warming had something to do with it. I could still go for a nice HUGE snowstorm though. Something that I can build a snowman with once again. At least there are a few benefits of living in such a place, although I do miss the larger cities. Maybe someday after I get certified in something other than being crazy. hee hee hee
I was watching Fox news today and saw something that just gobsmacked me. They’re trying to see if they can take Michael Richards to court because of his little tirade at The Laugh Factory! Keep in mind that I’m not defending the statements that he did that night, BUT….he did realize he did wrong, and did apologize for it.
So why can’t we let this go? Because people are so sue-happy, they’ll take ANYone to court over ANY little thing that upsets their utopian paradigm that they live in! I’d love to go up to those people who thought up this brilliant little strategy and bitch-slap them into next week with a titanium glove! To quote one of my favourite chefs….GROW A PAIR! My GORD are we so petty that we’ll sue someone just because they offended us with WORDS?? I used to remember a little something called “free speech”, and although what he said was wrong, he did his best to make up for it. If we are to remember Michael Richards for something, let it be for what he did to make us laugh, not what he did in one night to piss a few people off.
and yes…the media IS to blame for this one, since they seem to love to blow everything up all out of proportion just to make their rankings. I guess we should look forward to many more of these types of cases now that this precedent is being set up, and this will further clog up the courts with all these frivolous types of lawsuits just because what one person does upsets someone’s aura/emotional balance.
He OOPSED! It was a MISTAKE and he APOLOGIZED! MOVE ON!
Michael…wherever you are…we still love what you do. Keep on smiling dude.
You remember when people didn’t put up Halloween decorations until late September/early October, then put up Thanksgiving decorations on November 1st, and then Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving? Remember when the holidays didn’t all blend together? Boy I sure do. I went to a Wal-Mart and found Christmas trees right next to the Halloween decorations – and this was mid-October! Boy….let’s hear it for crass-commercialism!
MY tree however, is still in it’s box until tomorrow. I just hope others are keeping the holidays in their place too 🙂
People have to be out of their freaking gourds. Every year it’s the same thing with the “hot new bling-bling toy” of the season…..people are over-obsessed about getting something new the DAY it comes out. You see it on the news all over the place – people getting hit, stabbed, shot, and thrown in jail……..over what?
A FREAKING VIDEO GAME SYSTEM!
So it does Blu-Ray (WOOP-DEE-DOO!), and the games are just *that* much sharper. Man, people are just not happy with what they have, and have to have the NEW Playstation! Even though there are thousands of games that people have not played yet on their PS2/PSX systems, they HAVE to have this one.
The system has glitches, the backwards compatability doesn’t work right yet – there are WAY too many problems to justify blowing $600 for a GAME SYSTEM! Let me reiterate this…..IT’S………..A………GAME………SYSTEM! If people are smart, they’ll wait a while for the bugs to be worked out and the price drops a bit – THEN go get it.
So in the meantime, go enjoy the games you have for PS2/PSX, Gamecube, XBOX, 360 (even that one is overpriced), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, and others. Come on….just because something is over a year old doesn’t mean you throw it away.
If you are in line right now waiting for one of those, I pity you…..I really do. You truly have no life – if all you can think about is some silver-coloured GAME SYSTEM.
For those who actually got one, I hope the concussions were worth it and the mortgage company understands why your payment will be late.
I had my dentist check-up the other day, and they were telling me I’ve made some good progress. Now that things have settled down, I’ve gone on my mission of self-improvement. At first, my dentist told me that to fix what was wrong, it would cost me about $15,000, which of course hey….my last name isn’t Trump OR Gates, so that was kind of out of the question. The other solution was to put in an appliance to give me my smile back, and the cost was closer to $2000-2500, which is a LOT more affordable. This was good news for me, as I’ve been dying to get something done for a while now, but until I got the career I have now, I’ve not had the chance to actually take care of things.
I think 2007 is going to be a FAR better year than the past ones as far as lifestyle improvement go. This is not to say I didn’t have fun, but I think there will be more focus next year. I can’t wait to get things moving once again. Just another reason why I love the place I work at now! 🙂
I put in for another position recently (nope…I never give up, it seems). I figure they can’t turn me down for everything, can they? I figure I’ve done very well for myself in this past year and a half or so (gads….in 2 months it will be 2 years!), so why not keep pushing the career envelope? There are only 2 others applying for it, so I figure I have a 33.34% chance of getting it (gotta give myself the extra bit, ya know) – better than everyone and their pet goldfish applying and having even less of a chance.
I had my vacation/sanity break, and feel somewhat rested over the whole thing. Did a spot job downtown for this one place that has little 1-day jobs for nice amounts of money. This last one was only 3 1/2 hours long, but paid $25/hour, so there is a little extra scratch there for me. People I’ve known in other places probably think I’m out of my mind for being back up here, but I think you have to go with what works out well for you, and so far, this place is giving me the best shot at making things work. Yeah, if I was single and by myself again, I could throw caution to the wind and do whatever tipped my fancy – even migrate to Canada or the UK, but I have to be a tiny bit responsible nowadays, since I’m providing for a house now. Thankfully we have never been to the point where we were destitute enough to live on the street or in a shelter – we’ve always managed to pull up somehow before hitting bottom. I thank my lucky stars for that one.
I miss my friends in other states dearly, and wish I could see them more, but thankfully due to IM, e-mail, and phones, I can at least keep in contact. Granted I don’t always keep up conversations, but I try to poke up for air once in a while. This hasn’t diminished the flame that is my creative spirit in any way, and have gone back to doing sketch art again, and someday maybe I’ll get a story published somewhere. I’ve also been getting more technical, and have started trying to learn CCNA stuff.
It is getting better. Swear.
Yippeeee! I just found out the new Mari Iijima CD I ordered, Uncompromising Innocence, will be shipping out soon! It’s one of the really cool things I look forward to, since there aren’t many really good artists out there these days, and she keeps her music fresh and interesting.
I guess it’s why I love supporting her work so much. I’ve had a fan site up since 1998, and just re-did parts of it for this year. Come see!
and be sure to take a gander at her official page at http://www.marimusic.com
Definitely one fabulous person, in many circles 🙂
Whoever thought the mall experience for Halloween would be fun oughta be dragged out to the nearest cemetery and flogged against the haunted tree. My goodness, that had to be have been the worst experience ever….and my kids echoed the sentiment. Keep in mind that we have only two one-level malls, and only one has more than 15 stores in it, so hence, I only count the one as “quasi-real”. The lines are long due to everyone being there, which makes it hot and muggy inside, and the stores ran out of candy fast, so about half-way through, we started seeing sign after sign saying “All the candy got spooked out of us – happy Halloween!”
So…even though it was a little nippy, we thought to go to our old neighborhood and hit the old houses there. That, we all enjoyed quite a bit more (until the cold settled in), and the kids got a LOT more candy from those places – some just dumping handfuls since there weren’t many out. All in all, it was a good time in the end, and now we have enough candy to last at least a couple of months!
I guess next year I should plan better and actually decorate. I’ll get it right for Christmas though!
