I saw the news tonight as it happened. Saddam stood at the end of his rope and was departed from this world.
It’s a good feeling knowing that he’ll never be able to influence others again, yet the tide of terror continues. You pull one shark out of the water and others continue to swim. It’s such a touchy subject, it’s never clear what is best to say about such things. There was much rejoicing in the streets both here and abroad that the person who claimed the lives of many people in Iraq and who was such a threat to the world is no more. He is now gone.
It’s good to see that the justice system in Iraq is taking shape, and hopefully, they’ll soon be able to stand on their own two feet as a thriving country once again. Countries such as Iraq have a rich history behind them, but unfortunately people such as Saddam tarnish that image pretty viciously. The brothers were first, and then he went. They were caught, and they were dealt with.
But….when will we ever catch Osama? I guess it’s just one step at a time. The price of progress is eternal vigilance and knowing that someday, through determination and never giving up spirit we’ll finally make it.
