So get this…..I don’t run out of gas very often – in fact, pretty rarely, but last night I think I pushed my luck a little *too* far. I got TO work, but when trying to leave, I didn’t even make it out of the parking lot. Suffice it to say, I did actually find this a bit ironically amusing.
So I go back in, and look for a ride to go down, get a gas can, put some petro in it, and then come back so I can drive down and put a bit more in to get me by til payday. One of my friends VERY graciously lent me his truck, so I went down, got the gas (and a loaner can from the station – thank you!), then came back. I no sooner get to the driveway to get back into the parking lot when I see *BUBBLEGUM LIGHTS* go on behind me!
So here I am, in someone ELSE’S vehicle, and getting pulled over! I knew I didn’t do anything wrong, but it still freaks me out when I see those lights behind me. I pull into the lot and open the door to look back. The officer was very nice and polite as he asked me for all my pertinent papers. I managed to find his papers in the glove box, and handed him my license. It took about 5 minutes for him to come back after disappearing into his car – still lights going, and after another car pulled up.
Nothing came of it, except he told me he noticed one tail light out – no big deal. I told him I’d inform the owner, then went back inside to give the keys back. I relayed the funny story, and we all had a good giggle over it. Then I went back out, put the gas in, went back to the station, put a bit more in, grabbed a bite, and then went home.
At least I wasn’t in a huge metro area with long distances to go in order to get to a station or anything else (one blessing of living in small areas), so that was in my favour. Worst case scenario would have been me walking everywhere that night, but fortunately, thanks to good-willed friends and strangers, the night ended on a good note still.
How ironic…..first time getting pulled over in YEARS….and it wasn’t even in my own vehicle! Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Too funny.
