This weekend was quite nice. It really was. I really enjoy the beauty that is a 3-day weekend. I think I have worked overtime too many Fridays to really take in all the wonder that is three whole days off from work in a week.
I went to see Sweeney Tood last night on a whim, and am really glad I did. For one, it’s a VERY well done musical movie, and Johnny Depp did WONDERFULLY playing the protagonist of the story. I won’t give away any of the details apart from what you already know from the trailer, but it’s exceedingly well written and executed in my opinion, and just gives more testimony to the fact that Johnny Depp can pretty much play any role that is tossed his direction. I also saw trailers for two more movies that are on my list of things to see – Vantage Point and Jumper.
I picked up 2 new games over the weekend as well:
Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks The 80’s (PS2) – It’s a fun romp through the music of the eighties with some well-known, and some not so well-known songs that while it really doesn’t add anything NEW to the whole GH franchise, it’s still another fun song pack to go through. After having played all 4 for the PS2 now, it really makes me wonder if the 360 version will come out on top with the downloadable content (assuming they follow through with this). There is no career co-op mode, as there is with GH3, but you still have a good assortment to choose from.
Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution (Wii) – I was deciding between this game, and Dragonball Z:Budokai Tenkaichi 3 – while the Naruto game is quite a lot of fun, Budokai Tenkaichi 2 was as awesome as well. Maybe I’ll have to get BT3 next. Don’t hate me cuz I picked a Naruto game, or because it’s for the Wii…..I just wanted to play a fun fighter that takes more than twitching your thumbs too.
Next up for me though…..Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks for the Xbox – THAT is fun!
I need to start working out again, even if it’s just by myself. I’ve been paying for a membership, but it does no good unless I actually USE the silly thing. I think part of my problem is that I sleep in too late every day to get anything done before work, and then by the time I get home FROM work, there is nothing open and not much to do, so I never get around to anything. Yeah yeah….get off yer but SQ, and just DO it, right? Once it gets warmer out, it’ll be time to tune up the bicycle, and start doing that again as well. See if I can get some of my old rocket metabolism back in action once again.
I’ve found that it’s hard to be completely objective in any corporate environment when you develop friendships within that same sphere – to me it is anyway. It’s true what they say about any company being a “dog-eat-dog” world, and to survive, you can’t worry about anyone else but yourself. If you defend everyone whom you think has been wronged by “the system”, it seems all you end up doing is painting a target on your own back, and then you’re left out to twist in the wind. Just don your shrapnel helmet, duck under the radar, and don’t make a sound. It’s pretty sad when it gets to that point in the name of efficiency, but……you never know what the whole truth is when you only hear one side of it. I guess those who work for small businesses – or those who run their own business, are the only ones who can truly enjoy what they do. For the rest of us….we’re just along for the ride.
I so need to get doodling and painting again…..gotta get my mind on something pleasant now.
