It’s really freezing outside. I’m talking where the mercury in the trust thermometer has ducked down to the OTHER side of the zero mark – not by much, but enough to be sure. This is the time of the year that tests one’s mettle, and how much they are really willing to endure. This is the time when cars usually require much more time to get warm and idle properly, and thus adding to the equation about how much time people spend in their cars. Now, I grew up here, so the snow and cold really don’t bother me all that much, but it amused me greatly when I would tell the friends I made in California how cold it would get, and watch them gasp in shock and horror, like their minds could not comprehend how anyone could exist under such conditions.
I also found it a bit humorous and somewhat disturbing that it’s actually showing WARMER at the South Pole than in Montana. Of course, this is the weather report that is done through the Nintendo Wii, so I take any news through it with a touch of salt about the size of a lick. I’m sure it has something to do with global warming though.
One thing they teach you up here is how to dress in layers. Layers can be added more readily, and can be subtracted depending on the conditions. I think though, that gloves would be a nice thing to get right about now to protect the extremeties. It is possible to get about very handily, but you have to be smart about it. Of course, most would say it’s best to stay inside, but for those who don’t have that luxury, you just have to know how to beat the cold.
So with all that said, anyone who comes to Montana, I can say this with a smile……..
WELCOME TO THE HIMALAYAS!!! Snow cone?
