I was looking for cool website menus, and stumbled onto this piece.
I think Microsoft does things that make it increasingly longer to reinstall Windows. The other night I worked for FOUR hours re-doing XP, and I still wasn’t done. I still have to install the updates & put security in place – then it’s time to re-do my Vista laptop, as it’s been doing funky things, and while Microsoft has tried quite a few things, no “fix” has worked. They’re now suggesting I do , “in-place upgrade”, which is basically reinstalling Windows on top of itself. If it works, then it’ll be all good-if not, then I get to spend another evening babysitting Windows. Better than being bored, I suppose. Maybe I should get some sake beforehand next time.
Yay! Someone posted some vids of this. Of course, you have to search by the native name, but hey….at least they’re there!
Does anyone remember……Bod? I do! Wow, how times have changed!
3 days from today will mark eight years since I started blogging online. I first started writing down my thoughts on my various websites, but actual blogging was started on tax deadline day (4/15) back in 2001 (not the year we made contact, but hey – I can dream). It’s kinda funny how once upon a time, people would keep a diary or journal written down where they did what bloggers do now – only now it’s out there for all to see.
Well, on the advice of a good friend, I migrated my blog from Livejournal to WordPress. So far it seems to be going well, with just some minor updating needed to re-embed my YouTube videos – but that’s OK. I may have some podcasts going on soon too, so stay tuned!
Oh…and those of you who check out my Mari Iijima fan site at http://acrossthesea.shockqueen.com, I now have some new wallpaper to download on the photos & art page! Enjoy!
Well, we all knew it was coming – the tobacco tax went into effect, basically shooting the prices for cancer sticks/coffin nails/etc and related stuff through the roof.
Something to the tune of 200% from what I was watching on the news.
I don’t smoke, and never will – yet know many who do. I pity them, because in our tough economy, the last thing anyone needs is for something they like to shoot way up in price. However…it does force one issue….you can pony up the extra money, or just quit – it’s your choice. I know…it’s hard for some, but if it comes down to eating or smoking, which one are you REALLY going to side with?
Yeah…I’d want to eat too.
With all the clean air laws going into effect, and all businesses going smoke-free by the end of 2009, we’re gonna see puffers getting scarce awfully quick. That’s fine with me though – I don’t smoke…and never will, so I guess I dodged that bullet pretty well. 😉
and on that note………
I just wrapped up working on a short story I’ve been toodling about with for a few months now. I’m not sure if it’s finished finished, but perhaps more of a finished rough draft. Probably places I can flesh it out more and make some changes, but it feels good to put a period at the end of it, and be able to read a complete story that I put together.
Will it be published? I have no idea. I won’t say no and I won’t say yes. I’ll say…we’ll see. Anything is possible.
I’ve decided on a few projects I’m going to work on this year – in no specific order…..
Sketchbook – some digital art I’ll be doing with my graphics tablet.
Musings (expanded) – to include more short stories as they get completed.
Podcasting – this one might take a bit for me to learn how to do it, and then see where I’ll get it hosted at. This one also has the most hurdles, as I’ll have to figure out how to get royalty-free music, as the RIAA seems to think everyone is out to rip people off, so they’re watching for this stuff like a hawk (gimme gimme money people!).
Also, I’d have to figure out what the podcasts are about too, and then I could build a coherent theme around it.
So the first two things might come first, and then I’ll have more time to work on the third…..maybe. Seems real life ™ loves to get in the way of such creative dreaming……
I watched one of the latest episodes of The Amazing Race tonight, and it got me thinking again how much fun it would be to try and race all over the world……but who would race with me? Who would have the daring spirit to come along? I know of three people I’d love to have as racing partners (of course, this is just a wish list)…….
My friend Ray-Ray, because he has an adventurous spirit, and would be extremely fun to race with.
My across the pond friend Mau – for many of the same reasons as Ray – also a lot of fun to chat with and get to know.
Mari – because she doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit and has a passion for everything she does (hey….I can wish, can’t I?)
Any of those three would be such a blast to race around the world with. Of course, I’m sure there are millions who sign up for the race, and only a few get picked…..but hey….wouldn’t it be great to do it – even if for no other reason than to see so much of the world in such a short amount of time?
So let’s go race! 🙂
