There is something to be said about empowerment. It’s the ability to know that you can do whatever it takes to get something done. I had that happen today. As most of you know, I deal with technical issues on a daily basis, and one of the benefits of this is I get higher-priority calls that come in. I had one today that I felt I could help – I really did. So I sat back and listened to her story (which was quite long), and I honestly felt bad for her, so I thought “OK….I’m going to get to the bottom of this and make it RIGHT, come Hell or high water”.
I know…pretty ambitious, but anyway……I spoke with people in the local office management, my supervisor, my manager, and very helpful people from various departments on what we could do. We came up with what I felt was a very generous and heart-felt attempt to make things right, and perhaps make someone’s day a little happier.
Well…suffice it to say, nothing helped, and it wasn’t resolved….but that’s not the point I’m making here. The point is, when you have the ability to pool together various resources, and take charge of an issue, and get things lined up in order to make a full-hearted attempt to fix something, it gets you really going – you get that passion bubbling up and you feel like you can really make a difference.
My God….that felt wonderful! Bring on tomorrow!
