I have decided that I haven’t been writing near as much as I really should be, so I’m going to try a new challenge – I’m going to try and write at least one good-sized post per night – of course, this doesn’t count the ramblings that I do on Facebook, even though I link these to Facebook and Twitter since not everyone knows I have an actual blog page on my website. Yes, I know……it’s been a while since I updated that too. I think part of that is a little bit of frustration in not having a working desktop computer. I do have a laptop, so I suppose that’s no excuse, but I like the functionality of a desktop model just a touch more. Maybe because I can get a faster, cheaper computer with a desktop than I can a laptop, but with today’s prices, perhaps that’s a moot point too.
I am a bit down on myself every time I look through my old sketchbooks, because it reminds me of a time when I used to doodle ALL the time – not just once in a checkered moon, but that’s my own fault too – I just choose not to, and instead do other things. I know part of that comes with maturity and being part of a family, but you just can’t abandon all of the things you like doing – there has to be some sort of balance – right? Well, I think there should be.
There are some minor victories that I do feel accomplished about. I’ve held onto the same job for over 8 years now (hey, don’t laugh – that IS big for me), I think I’ve finally overcome the one bad ingrown toenail that has haunted me for over 20 years – just took a lot longer to heal up fully than I thought. I may have jinxed myself saying that, because you never know if something will happen, but perhaps now that things are nice and clear, maybe someday I’ll take up the notion of finally getting a nice pedicure done – heaven knows I could use one. Hey….it’s the 21st century now. Guys do a lot of things now that they didn’t do before. That brings up another interesting thing I saw on the news bits recently.
There was a train conductors union/group that was protesting the company’s dress code, which pretty much stated that in the summer, ladies could wear pants or skirts, but guys were relegated to only being allowed to wear pants (no shorts allowed!). There was a school across the pond that did the same thing. I have to admire the guys in both instances for doing what they did – they all showed up the next day in skirts! I think this is awesome because for one, there is NOTHING in any dress code that disallows such things, and two, I think in 90+ degree weather, a skirt would be far preferable to pants any day of the week! I think there are just a few countries in the world (ours is one of those) that still seems to have this hangup about who can wear what – just boggles the mind sometimes.
I know this seems a bit of a “ricochet” type post – bouncing from one topic to the next to the next, but sometimes my life is a series of just random events.
