At this time in my life, I think the biggest thing I want is to be happy.
Depending on who you ask, what makes them happy could be any number of things. It could be monetary happiness, sexual happiness, spiritual happiness – basically whatever makes you happy. But then again, what makes one TRULY happy? That is a question I’ve been contemplating for some time. I know a number of things that make me happy, but a very select few that make me truly happy.
I think in this world of misery that we seem to have been swallowed up into, I think it’s important for people to step back and think a minute on something that brings them joy – some happiness in their lives instead of being sucked down into the pit of despair that they create for themselves. It’s like part of an article I read once that stated people are adding years to their lives, but not life to their years. Maybe that’s why some people don’t live as long – maybe joy and happiness has something to do with overall well being.
For me, I think the best things I think about are my spiritual connection with God, my connection to my family, and my connection to my friends that make me happy. Any material considerations come after those – funny how that works out – material things have nothing to do with the top 3 things that make me truly happy. I may be on a good path here. I love sharing time with family & friends, and have been doing my spiritual walks as often as possible. Now granted what works for me may not necessarily work for you, so don’t take what I say as some sort of guideline or framework for how to live your life – that choice is entirely up to you. It’s not for me to judge since I don’t expect everyone to approve of my ways – nor is it any sort of realistic expectation.
Just be happy in every way that brings you joy.
