I sit and wonder some days how we have managed to survive on this planet as long as we have. Nowadays, it seems we are worse off than we have before. What’s really scary is that the most dangerous presence on the planet……is ourselves.
We claim to be advanced, yet our behavior says the opposite. Our medical practice has gone from being one of well-being and good health to being a for-profit big business – the pharmaceutical industry being a weapon arm of that entity. We claim to be working for a common goal of the betterment of all, yet remain at loggerheads with each other because we disagree so much on HOW it should be done that in the end, nothing is ever accomplished.
These days, I would never recommend anyone to visit anywhere in Africa or the Middle East – it’s just too dangerous and unstable because of all of the weapons in the hands of madmen! These nuts are running around shooting anyone who doesn’t follow their ideology! This is not to say everyone over in those areas are nuts, but those who are really give the region a black eye that they may not recover from any time soon. What’s worse is that some of these areas are the richest and most prosperous because of the abundance of something we have deemed ourselves unable to live without, and that is lots and lots of oil.
Makes you wish we could just cut those purse strings, doesn’t it?
Some days, I wonder if we will even survive the next decade, what with all the insanity around us. Peace and cooperation just seem to be words that a lot of the world has flat out forgotten about. Why? Because it just doesn’t give people power and money – those two things seem to be all anyone cares about anymore. I wish I was wrong, but the evidence piling up appears to show the contrary.
I only pray future generations learn from our mistakes and work together towards making a better future.
