So I finally started, with the help of some of my friends, actually using something I bought some months ago………..
……..my gym membership.
Yeah…..I was going to start right away, but like so many others, put it off for quite a while, but after a time, the guilt of those funds flittering out of my bank account each month to go to a place that I may or may not use caught up to me – not to mention the aforementioned help of my friends, so now I am starting to actually go to the gym to walk off some of those pounds I’ve been building up over the years.
I must admit, it’s the best motivation you can have, when you have people around you that you know, encouraging you to keep going. It’s what I really needed. Perhaps after a time, my back won’t hurt quite as much, I may have some more energy, and I can go farther – like what I used to be able to do.
When I think back on the times when I used to bike ride 20 miles in one day, or walked/rode all around Laurel growing up, it makes me feel a bit sad inside because I used to be so darn active all the time and had so much energy!
So I’m starting off walking the treadmill for 20-30 minutes, and then doing some back presses on the machine to get my back muscles a bit stronger, and then I can branch out from there. I have the membership, so I may as well use it – right?
I may have to take some progress pictures sometime and then share them once I show some measurable difference. Wish me luck!
