I may be a bit slow on the uptake from time to time, but I eventually catch up with current events. One of the cool things that has come out this year for people who own a Playstation 4 is a sweet new Media Player that has more capabilities than the PS3 version did. NDTV did a nice article about this app here.
The thing I am eager to try out about this is……just how many different movies can I play on this? It does say it plays more file formats than the PS3 version, so it’s worth putting it to the test to see what it can really do. What’s also nice is that if you upgraded your hard drive to something wild – say 2TB or more, you can put your nice music collection on there as well and have some tunes to play through your TV. No one can say the Xbox is the go-to media hub for everything as much as it tries to.
The cool thing about gaming systems in recent years is that they are more than just a gaming system – they stream, browse, store, and play so much more than gaming systems of years gone by. Don’t get me wrong – I still enjoy hooking up my SNES for some Mario action – or my Saturn to creep out to “D”. It’s just nice to have some options available for what my gaming system can really show off doing, and this little addition seems to fill the bill quite nicely – and what’s better is that it’s free from PSN – you just download it and go! Not too shabby, Sony……….not too shabby at all!
