In a lot of ways, the society we live in now is nowhere near as happy as when I grew up.
You have to understand that when I grew up, it was before the internet and social media. People used to have to talk to each other, we didn’t have caller ID, and we went to the arcades to play competitive video games. Our families bought our own school supplies and helped make our Halloween costumes when we couldn’t afford the ones in the store. We learned to appreciate what we had, and didn’t expect people to cater to our whining all the time (yes, I quantified that).
Now, granted some good has come from technological advances, but it’s brought some baggage along with it that really isn’t needed. I may have actually gotten to the point where I don’t go out anymore because if I hear one more special snowflake whine about some stupid thing that’s beyond their control, I may just lose it. People have become bitter, entitled, butt-hurt trolls that just love to complain.
That’s not the world I was raised in. We were taught things like self-respect, common courtesy, and some common sense – things that seem to have become lost, and that……is the real tragedy.
Now git off mah lawn!
