Well, tomorrow is it! We got all the good news stuff we’ve been waiting for, so now it’s lock & load & hit the road! Gonna have one last coffee gathering with my buds here in town, and then it’s getting down to the brass tacks…..packing ALL the stuff up, making the necessary phone calls, and then firing up the afterburners!
I’m SO ready!
Well, I finally heard something encouraging today….it seems some of the people I used to work with have gotten their W-2’s already, and it’s only one W-2 I’m waiting for, so perhaps this week will be the golden week after all! Also, I got ANOTHER call from a prospective employer out in Cali, so that’s even MORE reassurance that things will work out well after all!
De bedroom is pretty freakin’ bare right now, as all the shelves have gone south for the winter (via the dumpster)….kinda interesting using milk crates and boxes for propping stuff on again (lol). Tomorrow’s prolly gonna be a circus-type day, so we’ll see what takes place!
In other news, with this whole Iraq thing….I keep thinking that what we are prospectively heading into is for the wrong reasons. Yes, it’s good that our president is trying to keep our country safe and all, but he seems more eager to go to war than Hussein is! I just hope things can be worked out diplomatically and peacefully before we escalate things any further than they need to.
Well, still no W-2’s today, so I’m still waiting….probably end up doing everything at the last minute, which is something I would have liked to avoid – ah well. Tonight I went with my friend Leroy to a new place – Supreme Court – which has some really good buffalo burgers, then we met up with Steve & Bob for some pool (I learned I can’t call it billiards, since those tables have NO pockets!), in which I got beat pretty severely – guess when you play on REAL tables, it feels different.
I’m hopeful of some good news tomorrow, so we’ll see what happens next! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
OK…here it is…now Monday. It’s the last week of our being in Denver before heading out to the sunny coast! The closer the date gets, the more I look forward to it. It won’t be much longer now. I’m planning on taking lots of pictures on the way to kind of memorialize the event, as it’ll be the first time in some states, and more in others. It just feels right, if that makes any sense. My mom always said “things happen for a reason” and perhaps this is another thing happening for a reason!
The timing couldn’t be better in some cases….the job market is opening up where we’re going, as it seems to be closing more and more here in Denver. It’s a very liberating feeling, if you know what I mean.
Yeah, I pick the weirdest times to construct web pages, right? Well, I figure if I’m going to show the US of A what an absolutely AWESOME singer Mari Iijima is, I’d best get cracking on it, true? OK….you can now see it at:
Yes, she knows I have a fan club site on the net, and I’m sure she still checks on it from time to time to make sure that I’m giving accurate information regarding her music & career. She is sooo cool.
Well, the move is coming up in 4 days (assuming all goes according to plan), and we’re a good chunk of the way packed, although finding out how to organize the little fiddly-bits and odds & ends can be a bit of a pain. Yes, I am still excited beyond words about this change of scenery. Last night I found out something about my wonderful friend Robin…..we’re actually RELATED (in a distant sort of shirt-tail way), but WOW…just when you think you know everything about someone, something like this comes up! I think it’s way cool! 🙂
Well, no mail today, which is odd as it’s been 2 days now….but I guess it happens to everyone – some more than others. The packing is going well, and I expect we’ll be ready when the time comes which is within the next week. Things will be a little hectic getting set up and all, but I’ve been getting ready to expect that. With the calls that have been coming in, I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t have a job by the end of the first week! You know what they say….gotta get your priorities straight…..jobs, then apartment, then season passes to Disneyland! 🙂
I sent out E-mails to all my friends today, so that way they won’t be caught unawares when my E-mail addy changes, so I’m a bit more prepared than the customers I used to deal with on a daily basis. Tonight is the usual Coffee Klatsch night, so that should be a lot of fun, although the klatsch size seems to have dwindled in recent months…ah well, can’t expect everything to last forever, ya know.
Right now…..I am very happy with the way the preparations are going….it’ll be all good.
I just got my second call from a California staffing place today asking to have me get a hold of them the second we get in the area, stating they had a lot of good openings available….sounds like it’s just getting better and better! It’s getting down to “crunch time”, which means lots and lots of PACKING! Someday they’ll come out with an affordable way of converting video to DVD, and then we can dump all these VHS tapes that are sitting around, probably decaying due to age (some have been around for a while).
New school for the kids, new area to learn, lots of new things to get used to….kinda like a “baptism by fire” so to speak. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….I’ll be SO glad when those darn W-2’s get their little paper butts in my mailbox! Last night was really cool…went to Table Steaks with Leroy, Steve, and Bob, and had a wonderful time of it! The only drawback to the location in Aurora is they close at 2, whereas the one on the west side of Denver is open 24 hours a day! Go figure.
Hopefully things will go smooth as silk, and things will just click into place….at least that is the plan!
Well, it’s now 11 days to go (assuming things hold to schedule), and still much to do – and as they say, so little time to do it in. Who’da thought this month would go so fast? I’ve gotten used to this vacation, and I’m glad I did enjoy it, for after the move, it’s gonna be non-stop mayhem until we get settled into our new digs. Ray-Ray says there are a lot of new things to get used to, such as freeway on-ramps in the middle of residential areas, and whole sections of cities dedicated to one lifestyle or mindset…yep, it’ll be a lot to get used to, but it’ll be fun doing it.
The apartment is starting to look more like a warehouse every day, and each day, more unnecessary stuff goes sailing into the ol’ dumpsteroo. I hold the ritual of putting the useful stuff out, just in case someone wants to make use of it, much like I did when I first moved here, so it’s nice to be able to give back to the neighborhood in a sort of odd way (hey, it DOES work!). Went thrift shopping and landed a great deal on a bike, which will come in handy out in SoCal, since the weather there is nicer a bigger chunk of the year.
I’m hoping to get together with most of my friends before we leave, as it’ll be quite some time before I get a chance to see any of them in person again, although some have said they’d be out there sooner or later. Heck…why not? Denver is getting to be a dead-end town anyways, what with all the jobs going out the window. The old “cable modem rant game” is getting boring, so it’s time to search out new sport, so I’ve been busily playing Ratchet & Clank, as well as some Kingdom Hearts during the resting periods. Perhaps a nice run of Logan’s Run or Dune…hmmm….sounds like a plan.
btw….ENTRY POSTING 200! Woo-hoo! I am a mad jounalist!
Well, one of the more daunting tasks in our packing is going to be my room (surprise surprise surprise). Should prove interesting, and then we’ll see how much is left to do. I hope the neighbors don’t ask too many questions about all the furniture being ditched out….geez, we have a lot of JUNK! Hee hee hee….. I guess that is one good thing about moving…you get rid of all the excess you don’t need. Just a few pieces of furniture and a TON of boxes (can’t make ’em too big ya know).
I found out that a lot of game shows that I watch on TV are taped in LA (geeeee…who’da thunk that?), so I may peruse the possibility of being on TV someday (hope they have strong lenses, LOL). Well….first things first though. Get jobs, get apartment, and then…..HAVE FUN! I’m sure it’ll all work out…..recent events have shown me that it’s a sign that it’s time for a change anyways. 🙂
Grocery stores here are wonderful not only for good deals on groceries, but they’re great about getting you lots and lots of BOXES! The packing is going well, and I feel that it’ll all fit into the trailer we have lined up, so it looks like things are a go for the end of the month! Last night was way kewl as we had a little coffee klatsch going and of course didn’t get home until the sun almost came up in the ay em *sigh*….what to do. There were a lot of good memories here in Denver, and some not-so-wonderful ones, but I like to just keep my mind on the positive, since it’s brighter.
Of course, there are a few that I’ll be SO glad to get as far away from as possible, since their sewer filth isn’t fit for anyone, and where we’re going there will be much better places to hang out, shop at, and enjoy. If all goes according to plan, we’re less than 2 weeks away now….woo-hoo!
