It’s funny how every once in a while, it takes someone else to remind you of a basic truth that just comes out and makes complete sense. I had a friend of mine remind me of this recently.
These days, it’s so easy to get caught up in the whole “me too” thing, and going along picking apart the world around us, getting all balled up and bitter just because someone else is doing the same thing.
Why do we do it? It’s a really good question…………why do we do it? Probably the easy answer is because it’s easy to do that – just fall casually into the same cycle that someone else is doing. In the end, you end up no better than the person you were getting all caught up in their mind about. Seems social media is full of articles centered around this dynamic, which is kinda weird when you sit back and think about it.
So…….what do we do that’s different than everyone else? Breathe………….just breathe. Step back from that thought that is rattling about in your brain, driving you crazy, and then think “Why does this even bother me? Does this even matter in my life?” We all live our lives in the best way we know how. We were given a brain, consciousness, and a soul for a reason – to think for ourselves. I believe that’s how we were intended to be.
Unless a circumstance involves you directly in some way, shape, or form, there is nothing that says you have to be involved in this whole cycle – you don’t. If it’s something negative, just turn away from it and try and concentrate on something positive that will add something to your life – not take away from it.
Heck……I’m just as guilty as the next person of doing just that!
I have opinions. I am very opinionated. Ask any of my friends – they’ll tell you that very same thing. Am I always right? Far from it. There are many times I’m proven wrong, so I’ve had a healthy diet of humble pie for quite some time now – I sometimes eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I know how I would like to see the world, but that’s just my own view – my own perspective. This isn’t going to fit everyone else around me – I know this. People will disagree with me – I’m used to that. I can choose to agree or disagree with them all I want – that’s my choice.
So will I continue to have opinions and views on everything? Quite assuredly. In fact, I am working some ideas for my YouTube channel about various topics – from life, to gaming, to society, to movies & TV – just random stuff. Will everyone like it? Probably not. Do I expect them to? Absolutely not. Who would expect that? Opinions are what make each person unique – just like beliefs, convictions, and personality traits – it’s all together in one nice, neat package.
I do intend to do at least one thing every single day though………….breathe.
