There are some days I would just rather stay indoors and not venture outside, and these days I think it’s justified. People seem to have dropped even more intelligence than ever before – mainly when it comes to things like shopping and driving.
Driving especially bugs me. When I’m out driving, I’m just trying to get from point A to point B without getting killed, but when you have a few hundred Mario Andretti wannabes out, all jockeying for position, it gets nuts. It gets even worse in the winter when people driving trucks and urban assault vehicles think they’re invulnerable – these are generally the first ones stuck in the ditch, spinning their wheels. Oh, and for goodness sake people, when you see your lane is ending, merge with patience. It’s not the signal to speed up and force your way in front of others. Also, if someone is doing the polite thing and signaling a lane change, don’t be an asshole and speed up to cut them off – you will get there too.
Retail and food service is another place where people seem to switch their brains off. They yell at workers when product is out of stock, expect all sorts of unreasonable demands, and then turn into yowling 2-year olds when they don’t get what they want. I want so badly to bonk them with a Nerf bat until they calm the heck down.
Yes…..there are definitely days it’s just better to stay home – out of the zoo.
