This has been a year that has really shown me what peoples’ true colors are. We have been going through very rough times, although there are those who deny anything bad happened.
It did…. in so many ways but all it takes is a cursory search online to see the dumpster fire it really has been.
Social media, in so many ways, has shown how people really think, and people are so abrasive that they’ll trod you down beneath their foot any way they can to prop themselves up. My wife has reminded me that social media has destroyed people as a whole – and she’s not wrong there. It’s pretty sad that platforms that were designed to bring people together has in many ways, driven people farther apart than before. I’ve crossed people I’ve known for years off of my social networks because what I’ve seen below the surface really showed me a lot of insight on how they view people, and it’s pretty disturbing.
I’ve even had relatives tell me horrible things that I can never prove or disprove, because the people they talked about have been gone for years now. What kind of family members DO that? Certainly not caring ones, so my family circle has dwindled quite a bit since those days. I don’t have time for that anymore anyway.
I keep thinking I’m going to just give up social media someday, but there are some really awesome people I’ve come into contact over the years that would not have been possible otherwise, and I’m so grateful for that.
Perhaps as 2022 approaches, things might get better, but it’s going to take a lot of effort to get there.
