So it’s been about a month and a half since I started this experiment, and I think it’s continuing to go well! I’ve managed to not break any of my nails off, and I’ve started learning how to paint them. Right now, they’re a nice shiny platinum color, and so far there have been no ill effects from this change. The color comes right off when needed, so I’m safe there. This upcoming weekend, I intend to get some nail art done that I thought was just awesome looking. We’ll see where this road leads. I hope to do up a picture of them once they’re done too. I’ve gotten used to the idea of having fashionable hands, and people I work and exist around seem to have acclamated to the changes rather well too. It’s given me incentive to re-do my fashion wardrobe, which now includes flared jeans, some moderate heels, and fashionable barrettes to keep my hair in place when I don’t want it in my face.
Granted I still get my fair share of stares, but if they can’t handle it, it’s not my problem. I’ve evolved from carrying my stuff in my pockets to carrying a discrete purse around, which I enjoy a LOT more, and doesn’t make me look like a pack mule. Once again, I have asserted my individuality, and it has had a very positive result.
I wasn’t sure I’d be able to continue to type legibly using the strength provided by uber-nails, but I’ve learned to deftly pull off this somewhat obscure feat that only the fashionable seem to be able to do. I think it has to do with inbred targeting scanners in your fingers that can sense the difference between where your finger ends, and where the acrylic ends – then compensate from there. I have to admit, it makes me type even more correctly than before, because I’m using my right shift key a LOT more than I was before (yes, it’s easier to type the @ and ! that way). Okay, so it’s a lame excuse, but hey….I’m still doing well!
I’m really excited about my upcoming Denver trip – partly for reasons I cannot explain on a public blog, but needless to say, it’s bound to be a very fulfilling trip. I hope to increase my “stylin” collection some, and find some more pieces that I can absorb into my wardrobe for daily wear – not to mention hitting up some of the Payless stores that actually carry 13’s in regular stock! Yes, it’s only been a year since I saw Denver last, but gosh darn it, I miss the place, and welcome the chance to see it once again! The chances to see my friends down there, go have lunch at Chipotle once again, and to be able to show one of my friends why I love Denver so much….yeah…it’s gonna be really good.
I had some minor success selling some more stuff on eBay – about $20 so far (woo!), but I was hoping on being able to make more. The website project I started working on is going very slowly, and I don’t think is going to net me any fundage before I go on my trip – drat! Hopefully, if I find something in Denver that I can’t quite afford, I can make arrangements to have it shipped to me when I DO. Most places can do this, thank goodness – gotta love online life.
You can tell I’m ready for my vacation, can’t you?
It’s been over a month now since I started the experiment, and they have been holding up really well – I’m impressed! I think it’s time to have them trimmed back JUST a touch to keep them at the proper length, because while I am getting used to typing with my nails, I just don’t want to get hampered by them to the point where I slow down too much.
Last time, I just had the backfill done, but this time, it’ll call for some filing and rebalancing to keep the look the way I want it to. I figure I’ll just have them put more white acrylic on where needed, so that way I don’t have to worry about the painting part – might cost a touch extra, but hey, for less worry, it’s all good. I’ve been using the Sally Hansen nice and shiny “hard as nails” stuff, which really makes them look nice. I haven’t experimented with any other colours yet, but at least with the two-tone acrylic in place, I can do so, and go back whenever I feel like it. I haven’t broken any yet, so I’m doing good!
Now reading this just made my day! LINK
It’s now my second week while doing my new wardrobe changes, and I think I have finally turned a corner that some of my friends turned a long time ago. I talked with one of my friends today, and she agreed that as long as I am wise with my choices, I’ll encounter no problems. I think I’m doing very well in that regard so far, and just need to continue on the same track. Suffice it to say, my sneakers and t-shirts now take a back seat in my closet when it comes to going to work and dressier functions.
I’m working on some ideas for new maxi-print t-shirts, but I have a feeling I’ll be needing better ways of making those than what Cafepress can offer, since they are limited by size, and I’ll probably need a silk-screener to do up what I’m thinking. I might do some by hand as well, which will be more unique, but if I want really even, vibrant colours, then I’ll have to search out other methods of getting it done.
My creative muse is coming back……in a BIG way!
I did this up last night on my Wacom. Enjoy! TinkBrat
Sometimes, Fanboys-Online just gets disturbing. I do love their style though.
