Okay….Payless has me addicted again. Thanks to their manufacturers’ generous sizing, I can take advantage of some of what they have to offer. In that regard, I am getting the following:

It’s a new term that was taught to me (thanks, bluknight), that runs along the same lines as “freaking the mundanes”, but seems to have a more profound impact. You can just picture the scale of one’s sensibility just crashing (or breaking) when they experience something outside of their comfort zone. This can be something ranging from a small tube going “kssshhh!” to a large, thick flourescent tube going “BOOM!”.
I may have done the latter to someone who works at the same place I do, but in a different area. It’s okay though. Before you all write in saying how I really should practice discretion and all that, let me make one thing perfectly clear…….what I do on my own time is my own business and no one else’s. I don’t do anything out of the ordinary while at work (I have learned to keep those arenas separate), so I just reserve it for my off-hours.
I know……I keep flogging this dead horse more and more, but hey…..it causes no harm to anyone else, and I’ve not been thrown out of any businesses for my activities. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I’m 6’2″, but I’ve just gotten to the point in my life where I’ve paid my dues and been through too much to let myself be tied down (unless willing *snicker*), and anyone who can’t deal with that needn’t come around. I’ve acquired quite a few good friends here who think it no big deal, and are very supportive, so I’m lucky to know them, and value them greatly.
So if you’re cruising about town, and you hear what sounds like a row of test-tubes breaking in a steady chain, don’t worry……….ShockQueen’s just out and about again.
For fashion freestylers like myself, one of the challenges I face is finding what I like….and then finding it in my SIZE. For those who know me, I have “bigfoot syndrome”. I’m a size 12US Men’s, which means I take anywhere from 13-15 on the other side of the fence (in the gal’s section). Now to me, I don’t care what side of the fence it is – if I like it, I’m buying it (barring any money issues). I like Payless, because their styles tend to be a bit….generous, so I can get away with doing their 13W’s with no problem.
This was my latest addition:
I like the style, the material, and they look AWESOME under jeans! I have a lot of respect for the people who work and run the store I like, because they’re very friendly and professional. I know…..they’re SUPPOSED to be that way, but I’ve seen issues with some stores in the past, so I like my positive experiences. These are going to be great for wearing oot and aboot, although I still keep to my pledge that I’m keeping my work-life and personal life separate (as far as how I appear when on the job) – outside of work is still my game/my rules. So far, have not run into any snags, so hey…….it’s all good.
I really need a breather. I need to refill my IQ meter that has been slowly depleted dealing with idiots of every caliber. Granted, I don’t hear from AS MANY as I once did, but man, they’re getting stupider by the day. Maybe it’s the universal balance that says the smarter technology gets, the less intelligent humans get – osmosis, perhaps? There has to be some reason for it.
I WAS planning on going out of town originally, but the Law of Murphy is kicking in overtime. Multiple issues have come up with our primary mode of transport, so now the secondary is covering for the primary. I HOPE it’s something that can be fixed readily and doesn’t cost an arm, a leg, and a deposit on the other arm. I am making the best of it though, and instead will be getting some art supplies to help get me out of the doldrums, and actually get back to creating things again. I’ve been thinking about getting back into fabric painting as well, so I just need some suitable materials to get started with, and then I can get to work on making that happen. I did one t-shirt a long time ago that I really should have taken a picture of before giving it away – it was pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. I wonder if the person even still has it. That would be fun to find out.
There is this guy I know of who is convinced he’s “goth”, but I’m sorry…….I just can’t see it. He tries so hard to convince others of it, that he just gets downright annoying. I mean, I can stand a lot of people, but dang…….quit being a leech. I mean, the kind that just sucks the life out of you without much effort. I have to put him on my blocked chat list constantly because he’s just being stupid and annoying. I guess he just needs to get his priorities straightened out. Granted, it’s just my opinion, but hey…….that’s what blogs are for, right?
I do wish I was a lot skinnier though, so I could pull a lot of my favourite looks off better, but I guess I’ll have to work on that some more. I’m happy with what I have for now though. Next week will be spent tidying up and enhancing the house to our liking, so I’m hoping that has the desired result when all the dust settles…..should prove interesting.
Sucks that I can’t make it to Denver though…..I was looking forward to that. I’ll get there eventually though!
I’ve been watching Star Trek a long time…….I mean a long time. I grew up with Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Sulu, Scotty, Chekhov, Bones…..they were some real heroes. They lived in a society where the world had gotten past it’s petty differences for the most part, and wanted to better themselves by exploring both within and without. People were doing things because they WANTED to – not because they HAD to. People were free to choose the lifestyle the wanted, and didn’t have to worry about it.
Now think about this…..we were first in the space race to put a man on the moon. This was a HUGE accomplishment! We did that in what? 1969????? Almost FORTY years later, we have not progressed much past this point. Yes, we have a space station now, but…..how large is it? Not very large, and not very much to it at this point.
Have we been back to the moon yet? No.
Have we sent MANNED explorations to Mars yet? No.
Have we sent 2 shuttles up, left one up there to perhaps go back and forth to the moon, and thus have a vehicle to do more exploration with? No.
Have we thought about perhaps sending up supplies to build a larger space vehicle for continued exploration? No.
We have some of the brightest minds on the planet, who could pool their resources together and come up with marvels to propel humankind farther than they thought possible, but what are they doing?
I mean seriously……..WHAT-ARE-THEY-DOING????
Here’s another one. There was a guy a LONG time ago who made a car that could run on WATER. Plain….old….WATER. Clean-burning, clean-running, and would not pollute. Was it mass-marketed? NO! The patent/design was bought and BURIED! Note: The guy still has the car to this day, and I bet he laughs every time he passes a gas pump.
Every time someone makes something that would benefit humankind in unimaginable ways, yet deprives PROFITS from some large CORPORATION…..the idea is bought and BURIED and FORGOT ABOUT!!!
We need to stop thinking about what will drive our profit margins the most, and start thinking about what will benefit our people the most. Some of you may dismiss this as pure reterich, but think about it……..just sit back and think about it. What have we really DONE this past forty years that has been truly remarkable?
Catching bad guys? Nice, but there are bad guys everywhere. It’s the media that makes them larger than life. Good going there, guys.
Fighting the war? We caught the bad guy – great! Not the original one we were GOING after, but we did get one. OK….kudos on that one. One down, and a bazillion to go.
I guess I’m just not impressed with our overall progress as a whole. We have SO MUCH POTENTIAL, yet never use it. Imagine what we could do AS A PEOPLE if we just put our minds to it. If we really really wanted to, we could do so much.
I figure one HUGE thing is in the way here……..GREED!!!
Douglas Adams wrote it best. “This planet has — or rather had — a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn’t the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.”
As long as we worry about who has the most power, the most money, and the most control…….we’re not going to get anywhere fast. The answer is so simple, yet those in control of the countries of the world don’t want to hear it. Let’s put away the bombs, the rockets, the guns…..and let’s MAKE something of this world – our planet. Let’s make it better.
I know…..you can’t hear me over your gunfire…..it’s about what I expected……
My first fave band was ***KISS***!!! You wanted the best, you GOT the best! At least half the original four are still doing well for themselves, so it’s not a total loss.
I guess when it rains, it pours…..
My poor van has gone through sheer heck this year. First some yahoos break in, try and steal the stereo, and end up destroying much of my center console trying to get it out – they only get the faceplate, but the damage is done. Then, the front mounts on my driver’s seat bust, so now it only has the back ones to rely on – and now there is some weird smoke coming from somewhere in the engine bay, and the engine itself is making some weird sounds. I’m thinking it’s doing its swan song………fan-frickin-tastic…….
I do wish it had come at a better time though. I just had the window motors replaced and did the renewal for the plates, so that may be money down the ol drain, and then I’ll be down to one vehicle again. The whole purpose of a second one was to BE a second one – not to replace the primary one. Dang………just great. I hope it ends up being something minor. It’ll be easier to just replace a seat and repair a small piece of motor than to have to replace the whole vehicle – not to mention may be cheaper.
It seems every time I plan some sort of vacation, or try and acquire something nice, something gets in the way that detours the plan, or at least makes a darn concerted effort to do so.
In better news….I am dabbling into other departments at my job, so I might try a different direction to see how that goes – or just may stay where I am. I’m not sure yet, so I’m investigating further. Too bad it’s not the sort of place where they could use someone of story-writing capability, because I’m sure i could do that with no problem – aside from the occasional writer’s block about the size of a large block of granite, that is. I do have vacation coming up in about a week and a half, so at least I have some time left to decide what I want to do, although the trip is looking more and more like it’s not going to happen (again). I may end up settling just to get a nice graphics tablet for my ‘puter and then doing some digitized artwork for my website. I have had some people say they’d like me to do web work, but nothing beyond nibbles at this point.
I got a copy of Jeff Dunham’s “Arguing with myself” on DVD, so I’ll be able to enjoy that a lot as soon as the dungeon reorganization is finished. I’m working on doing some shelving for my fab feetwear collection, as well as my robot army, so I hope to have that all set up and ready to display soon enough – not that I’m planning any guided tours, mind you, but it will be nice to be able to get to everything easier than I was before. Perhaps I should get another shelf unit like the two I have, and put more shelves into them…..hmmm….might be a plan there.
If you haven’t seen the Doctor Who episode “Christmas Invasion”, you really should. It’s really cool, was done very well, and has a bit of Torchwood in it (another new series on BBC America). It’s getting me interested in the Torchwood series as well – great….more shows I never have time to catch up on. If I could fit a few more hours into each day, I might be better off, but since I can’t affect the laws of time and space, I may be fresh out of luck there.
Not much else going on at the moment, but wait……that might change soon too. Just look around that corner and take a gander…..you’ll see.
