I didn’t think it was possible for me to get into places where I could get addicted to their food here (of ALL places), but thanks to some wonderful friends, now I have 3 more, and my waistline will forever suffer for it (thanks guys! *sideways smile*).
So if you happen to have the (mis)fortune of ever going to Billings, Montana, you have to check out:
Del Taco: Yes, I know this place is just about every-freaking-where, but….if you want to fill up, and there is no Chipotle around (sob!) then get a Macho Burrito and Deluxe Chili Cheese Fries. *URP!* Good stuff….
Rocket’s: These guys are known for gourmet wraps, and how yummy they are! The first time I went there, I had a teriyaki one. It was good, but for my money, the “Hey Pork Chop” is THE best! I don’t know if it’s the pineapple or the sour cream, but DANG it’s good!
Pita Pit: These guys TRULY rock! They stuff pitas full of various types of goodies and then fold ’em up tight, which is even better than any soft-shell tortilla thing. My favourite? The GYROS! I used to think The Athenian was the ever-lovin’ end to greak greek, but these guys have ’em beat hands down…..PLUS they deliver and are open until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights!
I guess I really had better start riding my bike more if I’m going to counter the effects of these goodies.
*PING!*…………….*CRACK!*…………….*PING!*……………*PING! PLACK!* I feel like I’m in some urban jungle here listening to the sounds of Wint-O-Green Certs flying all about. Someone brought a huge bag in, and now everyone is letting loose with a volley of retsyn-enhanced missiles. I swear it wouldn’t be annoying so much, but when you get this constant thing going on hearing it…….it’s a little like sitting around a recess bunch.
Makes me feel glad for when it gets late at night though…….ahhhh, relaxation.
Today I received an offer I couldn’t pass up. One of my colleagues has a graphics tablet he wants to sell, and it’s HUGE! I’m talking a full 12″x12″ monster! It’s a bit older than those Wacom ones, but I still gotta try it out to see if it’ll work like I want it to. Just got my fresh XP coat of paint on my PC, loaded up Adobe, so we’ll see how well she flies! This may be just the tool I’ve been looking for in order to get things really churning. I really do hope so, although there are some other great artists who just do their pen & paper, and then use a scanner, but I’ve wanted to test drive one of these things since I first saw the “Quantel Paintbox” back in the 80’s. Just something nice and fun to use to make some artistry magic.
I guess I’ll find out after all this time if it was worth the wait!
I applied for a management position recently, went through the first interview process, and was told that they’d do determinations the next day. I thought to myself that I don’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell (Michigan) of getting it, but went ahead with it anyway just to show my interest. Today I got the “blow off” e-mail which is labeled as a “feedback inteview”, but have been through too many of those in the past, so I just blew it off as well. When I heard some of the people that were being considered, I knew this setup was rigged in some odd way that I wanted no part of, but still irritated me to a minor degree. Yeah, I could go up to the next level technically when those opened up (if they did), but that is a VERY minor pay raise, and would have to give up my differential that I’m making now. It’s a catch-22 – darned if you do, yet darned if you don’t. I remain quiet though as I don’t want to cause any undue waves which may come back to bite me in the ass later on (yes, it happens).
My friend gave me a handful of Tootsie-Rolls, which I’ve been devouring, and should sweeten my disposition some, so I may make it through this okay after all.
I haven’t done a thing to my websites in quite some time, and it’s really bugging me. Every night I think about it while I’m working, yet by the time I get home and get everything settled down, I’m just too freaking tired to do it! I keep thinking I need to draw more, but never get around to it. It’s like my days are get up, eat something, go to work, get home, and then relax a bit before going to bed. Is that a life? I don’t think so. Then my day took another turn down the downward spiral when I send a curious e-mail to one of my favourite artists, and she kinda blew it back at me, which I know isn’t her fault, but still felt kinda like someone slapped me upside the head with a salmon.
I guess I should just pour my creative efforts into what I’m doing and not really expect anything else other than my own sense of satisfaction out of it. I know I do good things, but it’s nice to hear nice words back as well. I’ve been eyeballing Jin Wicked’s works on her site, and she has a really nice layout. I think I can make nice enough artwork to embellish in my scanner and then put up on my site, so why not? Guess we’ll see how everything looks on the next go-round! One of my friends at work has a graphics tablet that he might be putting up for sale, so we’ll see if it’s any good, and if I can work with it. If it does, then we’ll haggle price-wise from there. Who knows? Maybe I’ll have a new way of doing things! That wouldn’t be such a bad thing…..just a matter of getting everything lined up now…*sigh*….as Murdock says…I’m working on it.
I grew up in a nice smallish area where everybody knows your name (not THAT place), your parents, and everybody knows everyone else. I then moved to the largest town in my state, and all was still nice and pleasant – kinda like those b-grade poof movies where everything is nicely solved, no one is hurt, and “the end” is framed in roses. Well……I thought this town was still like that, and then reality came up and bitch-slapped me right between the nads……..
My bike got stolen.
I know….it’s hardly life-threatening, but STILL. I mean come on. How petty is that? Right off my front porch no less! I thought the bright lights of the parking lot by us and the motion sensors would scare them off, but perhaps these were “local area vets” and didn’t care. I still sucked, and knowing how expensive gas is these days, it took away my cheap transportation.
All was not lost however!
I got a nice gift card…..for FIFTY BUCKS from my work for doing some overtime (I’m such an OT slut), so on payday, I took that, and a bit of extra change, and got a rather nice brand NEW one! So now I have my cheap transportation again, I’m a bit more wary of where I leave it, and can save a bit on gas again. I guess even in smaller towns/cities, you have to lock every freaking thing up under heavy-duty lock and key, otherwise it’ll disappear in the twinkling of an eye while you’re sleeping.
So at least there was a happy ending this time.
